How to Score Good Marks in Boards

“If four things are followed – having a great aim, acquiring knowledge, hard work, and perseverance – then anything can be achieved.” A. P. J. Abdul Kalam

More than anything one requires to face any challenge in life is fearlessness, optimism, patience, perseverance and hard work. Similarly, board exams are not much different. One needs to stand up to fight the fear first and then boards.

Once we have understood that boards are nothing but another set of exams, then one can start by being regular. “When students improve their attendance rates, they improve their academic prospects and chances for graduating.” – Attendance Works. Even Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru in his letter to Indira Gandhi talked a great deal about discipline and punctuality.

It is of utmost importance to understand that being regular is the key. Attending classes, being vigilant, completing work on time, daily revision will help in sailing through this storm called boards. Once we revise, what we have studied actually gives us an extra edge over our peers. As revising and re- revising would engrave the context in our mind. So always say yes to group studies or be a good friend and volunteer to explain what all your friends have missed when they didn’t attend classes. “Perseverance is the hard work you do after you get tired of doing the hard work you already did.”

Newt Gingrich (1943- ), American politician, historian, and author

Maintain practice register and asking queries is another way to combat the exams as there are no last-minute horrors left to be faced. The more you practice, the more queries you will have ; the more queries you will have , the more you will crave for an answer; the more you will crave, the more you will ask and the entire concept will be clear to you without cramming it . Practising it will actually make the basics clear to you on its own, hence, the effort is to take action and not mug up. “You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.”

– Zig Ziglar

Appear for internal exams, all the periodicals, unit tests, class tests, pre boards, they are nothing but the training of a soldier before he actually steps into the battlefield. So, soldiers march ahead and don’t be afraid to fall a thousand times but never give up to stand for one-thousandth one time and win the battle of Boards vs You.

Adhering strictly to your time table is extremely significant. Respect time and time will respect you. If you couldn’t stick, make room for unfinished targets. Start every morning with a TDL (To-Do List) and keep a tab on your progress. Report to yourself and if you fail, keep up.

Make sure to include proper sleep of 7 hours, balanced diet and sports in it. A healthy mind resides in a healthy body. So, take ample of rest to rejuvenate, eat to cope up the stress and sports or extracurricular to refresh yourself. You have to be wise not a book worm. Keep your gigs, gadgets and games aside for a year. A deciding year can bring back all of these things in a greater proportion if played well.

Also, not every subject is the same. So, it depends upon the complexity of concepts and your understanding, so devote and allocate time to each concept according to you and demand of the subject.

Lastly, believe in yourself that you can and you will and let not marks define you or decide your fate. Victory is not winning but when you stop trying. “Permanence, perseverance and persistence in spite of all obstacles, discouragements, and impossibilities: It is this, that in all things distinguishes the strong soul from the weak”. Thomas Carlyle
